John Steinbeck has written how you cannot simply take a trip, rather it is the trip that takes you. Dragon Ranch is a great example of a trip that “takes you”. An experience for my family that reminded us of what is most important; one another. The accommodations are new construction and well thought out. All the creature comforts of home. You only need to pack your clothes and food. The views and solitude were a reason to rebook alone. We loved the photos and memorabilia of Dragon Ranch throughout the decor. Our 5 and 7-year-old enjoyed a few games of hide and seek downstairs (highly recommended). The TV and technology were great, but to be honest, we opted for board games and star gazing on the patio instead. Preston and Sarah hosted us like family, they were great with showing us all around the ranch and introducing us to the animals while sharing the history of the buildings and area. The animals were majestic, loving, and docile with our small kids. Such a wonderful adventure. -- Erik

My husband and I had an amazing experience, staying in the Bunkhouse at Dragon Ranch. The hosts, Sarah and Preston, are top-notch communicators, and our stay couldn't have been more perfect.
The Bunkhouse was amazing! The pictures did not do it justice. The furniture and appliances are top-notch, and the attention to detail is incredible. There truly wasn't one thing lacking. We enjoyed the peace and beauty so much that didn't even venture to the Ranch until the last day.
After visiting the Ranch, we couldn't believe that it was included with the price of our stay! Oh my goodness! There is so much that the Ranch has to offer! The animals are incredible and so friendly and the activities are unbelievable! We will be booking another stay at Dragon Ranch very soon. This time we will bring our children. We know they would love the activities and the animals, and there is another rental with more bedrooms on site! Yea!

Words can't express how amazing this AirBNB is -- the accommodations AND the ranch experience! First, Preston and Sarah are incredible hosts; I myself am a "Superhost," and I have no doubt that this brand new AirBNB will be "Super" too. Second, this is an experience of a lifetime. The house: Brand new, GORGEOUS, incredible touches, immaculate. Waking up in the morning w/ a cup of coffee on the private deck w/ views of the lake just feet from my door is just so special. The Ranch: Again, at a loss for words. There were guard dogs (SO FRIENDLY to humans) which protect the horses, ponies, goats longhorns -- all of which loved the attention of strangers petting/feeding them. And chickens. This was BEYOND any dude ranch I've visited. No comparison. Dragon Ranch is modern, chic living paired w/ real ranch life and mountain views, too. Amazing combo! Btw the hospitality of Preston & Sarah (& the dogs!), Dragon Ranch was spectacular! I can't wait to return. - Cari

Our stay at The Ranch House was absolute perfection. The house is GORGEOUS & has everything you need. the view of the lake & mountains from the decks were breathtaking for morning coffee & evening wine by the fire. The beds were so comfortable & the bathtub/shower was perfect after long days of hiking /site-seeing. The location is far enough out to feel secluded but close enough to visit many attractions & for short day drips. Our visit to the ranch was amazing. Preston & Sarah were the perfect hosts-introducing us to all of the animals that are beautiful and friendly to visitors. They shared about the history of the ranch, which is amazing. We truly admire that this is a Veteran owned property that pays tribute to Veterans in a unique & special way. They were always available for any questions we had & were so genuinely friendly. Such good people! We are so lucky that we found Dragon Ranch & immediately knew that we'd found a newly listed gem! We'll definitely be back and recommend!! - Joshua
Dragon Ranch was a fantastic place to stay! The Bunkhouse was extremely clean and comfortable. All the appliances seemed to be brand new and top of the line. The Airbnb had anything you would ever need and the hosts even left a welcome gift for us! Beyond that, the ranch is an oasis itself! The hosts were so welcoming and gave us a tour of the ranch to meet all the animals and see the historic buildings on the property (even in the snow!). Truly, just some down to earth, kind people sharing their way of life and love for ranching with others. We are hoping to visit again soon! - Mayme

The whole experience of our stay was so far beyond what I've experienced thus far with Airbnb's. My family and I regularly travel and choose to stay at Airbnb's when we do so. We've had some very good experiences, but this place clearly is the best so far. A piece of my heart was left at that ranch when we left, and I promised my family we'll go back whenever we can. It's been a while since I've felt this way about being in the mountains, given the overcrowding Colorado now suffers from. I feel like we got a taste of that rare, ephemeral magic that we initially felt after moving here many years ago. Hence, it is with both duty and admittedly a little regret that I am writing this review because while I'd love to keep this place a well-guarded secret, it would do no justice to the owners who so kindly opened up their hearts and their ranch to this city family to share their piece of paradise with us. I just hope once the word gets out, there'll be vacancy for us to stay again. Bruni
We LOVED staying at Dragon Ranch. Preston and Sarah were awesome hosts. We loved getting to know them and hanging out with the animals. The Bunkhouse was spacious, spotless, and had a beautiful view of the lake right in front. We didn't want to leave! We're definitely coming back to visit as soon as we can. -Caryn

Preston and Sarah’s house was ASTOUNDING!!! I rented this property for my families vacation, and I do not regret it whatsoever! It’s a lake front property with breathtaking views, and peaceful environment. On top of the place being so well equipped with everything you ever thought you would need, they took us for a tour on their 55+ acre ranch full of beautiful , sweet animals! There’s so much history on their land, and you will want to hear about it!!! :) we cannot wait to come back in the summer and enjoy the outdoors again! We booked for a romantic getaway to unplug and connect. Our experience at the Bunk House exceeded expectations and was a perfect slice of mountain paradise. The location is perfect: watching sunrise to sunset over the lake on the deck, absolute privacy, abundance of beautiful scenery and wildlife, the endless options of activities nearby.
The lodging itself is perfectly done and we had everything we could ever need and more. The comfort and generosity of our host made us feel like we had a home away from home for the entire stay.
The entire experience was elevated when we connected with Preston and Sarah for the ranch experience. They made us feel like part of the family as we interacted with their beautiful animals, walked the expansive land, and visited a part of Colorado history.
This truly is an amazing experience and beyond a perfect location and complete comfort. It is difficult to express the feelings of peace and beauty we found there and I only wish we had stayed longer. - Michael
